A love for glaze. A love for plaster-cast porcelain. Expressed together, one piece at a time. That’s the essence of Naoko-san’s art. Each piece is handmade individually at the studio in Kuwana City, Mie Prefecture, drawing inspiration from nature, living creatures and the wondrous phenomena that occur within the kiln. The glazes are original formulations, carefully selected from thousands of experimental trials, resulting in distinctive, vibrant colours rarely seen elsewhere.
Naoko attended Aichi Prefectural University of Arts, Ceramics Department, her graduate show in 2010 winning the most coveted award, and went on to complete her masters in 2012. Since then she has been selected for numerous commendations and solo exhibitions. She established an independent Kiln in Mie Prefecture in 2015 and balances her career with raising twins.
